IMPORTANCE OF ICT EDUCATION
ALLAH C. BAUTISTA
The use of information and communications technology (ICT) in the field of education often includes two separate forms of online learning: asynchronous and synchronous online learning, which are sometimes confused with one another. The difference between synchronous and asynchronous learning is that the first allows students to study at their own speed and at their own convenience, while the latter requires the simultaneous virtual presence of both students and instructors in order to facilitate interactive sessions. ICT is an abbreviation that stands for "Information and Communication Technology," which is a term that describes technologies that are based on telecommunications and enable access to information. Despite the fact that it is sometimes likened to information technology (IT), the primary focus of this field is on communication technologies. All of these are instances of digital communication, which includes the internet, wireless networks, mobile phones, and other technologies that are comparable. This means that modern educational institutions have greater options to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) into their programs for educating teachers, which will ultimately result in an improvement in the level of expertise possessed by educators and the ability to properly educate individuals. An interdisciplinary discipline that combines science, technology, engineering, and management to deal with the processing and use of information, as well as its link to social, economic, and cultural issues, is what the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) (2020) defines as information and communication technology (ICT). The role of the educator is of utmost significance in today's society, particularly in the realm of education. Nevertheless, in order for online learning to be successful and efficient, it is necessary for educators, organizations, and institutions to have a comprehensive awareness of the advantages and limits of this mode of education.
