Nyx Nasal released his debut single ‘Sila’
Representing ones' country in a worldwide competition is quite nerve-racking, if I may say. But this was not the story behind Nyx Nasal's triumph - a native of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
Armed with talent, determination and inspiration, Nyx tried his luck and joined the 2022 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) audition. And fortunate enough, he was chosen to be one of the Philippine delegates to WCOPA which was held in Anaheim, California.
Nyx was under the tutelage of WCOPA and took everything in stride, despite financial difficulties.
"It wasn't that easy rin po.Medyo magastos po kasi, lalu na I still come from San Fernando and goes all the way to Manila for the scheduled activities.
"Bago po kami umalis naka- booth camp po kami for three months. Lahat naman po itinuro nila sa amin. Kahit po visa interview tinuro nila kung paano namin ihahandle. We were also taught po on how to act and perform on stage. Pati nga po mga drills on how to react with emergencies, weather condition at kung anuano pa po preparations. Talagang full support po ang WCOPA sa mga delegates nila.
"Right after po ng training lumipad na po kami papuntang California. And I was very excited po kasi I had the chance to meet a lot of people and learn about their culture. " he narr at ed.
What was his exact feeling that he was standing in front of other delegates and representing his country.
"At first I feel nervous, natural naman po siguro yon. But as I stood up on stage, talagang I felt at ease. Kasi naisip ko, it was my chance and we were only given one minute po for each song for every category. Might as well give my best shot!
"Twenty five countries po all over the world ang naglabanlaban. Team Philippines po consist of mga 90 delegates po kami lahat
"First po namin is group category, which is broadway, then country song, r&b, tapos rock, and OPM (original pilipino music).
"Sa broadway po kinanta ko ang Do-Re-Mi yung sa The Sound Of Music po, sa country

song yung Crazier po ni Taylor Swift, sa rock yung Im' Into You by Paramore, tapos sa OPM e dahil kasikatan nun ng Tala yun ang kinanta ko.
"The 10-day competition was fun. Medyo nalungkot lang po kami kasi may mga parang Africans yata sila na nagpapraktis kami wala silang pagkain. Kasi nakikita nila ang Team Philippines maraming pagkain kasi may Jollibee po dun, nagpapadala sa amin.Kaya binibigyan namin sila."
"Tapos yun po, halos lahat naman po kami nabigyan ng award. Kaya thankful po talaga ako sa award na nakuha ko."
Nyx took homme the Bronze award. Then opportunity knocks.
Currently the crooner is under the management of Off The Record in partnership with SONY Music Phils. In January 12,2024 he released his debut single a revival of the hit song "Sila" originally sung by SUD. Giving a new generation's fresh take on the song, Nyxs' singing prowess transformed the song into a pop r&b which will make his listeners, sing dance, and fall in love again with this pinoy classic. "Sila" is now available on all digital platform stores.
Aside from being a versatile performer, Nyx also excelled in his studies. In fact in 2033 he graduated Magna Cum Laude at the Holy Angel University with a degree in Communication Arts and being very articulate which led him to do hosting jobs.
Nyx soars high, and dreams of becoming successful in his chosen profession. He firmly believes that perfect timing and luck goes hand in hand ..... and for him his journey has just begun.
