GULAYAN SA PARALALAN PROMOTES STUDENTS' POSITIVE BEHAVIORS
NICA C. LAMPA
In the future, Gulayan sa Paaralan will be a significant program for students who want to learn economic skills. Academic matters and practical applications are important especially facts, laws, critical thinking, and solving real-life scenarios. It is just a simple planting for the school, but it will be very beneficial for the health of our students to remain active and enjoy a healthy body. The joy on the faces of the children as they grow vegetables at school and in their yards is shown through the perspective that they will produce in a few months. Through this program, they can also apply what they have studied in all subjects. Planting vegetables might help students in a variety of ways. It encourages responsibility, tolerance, and teamwork in addition to teaching kids the value of a sustainable diet and lifestyle. Students gain a sense of pride and ownership when they participate in the planting, caring for, and harvesting of vegetables. It can also give them a sense of accomplishment and enhance their mental health. All things considered, it's an effective activity that can encourage good behavior and improve their educational experience as a whole. Planting vegetables can encourage student collaboration in several of ways:
1.Planning and Design: Students must collaborate to communicate, exchange ideas, and reach choices when planning and designing their vegetable garden. They can talk about how to make the most of the available space and which crops to grow. Cooperation and teamwork are encouraged by this cooperative procedure.
2.Soil Preparation: Students can cooperate to get the soil ready for planting. This could entail raking the ground, pulling weeds, and applying fertilizer or compost. They gain an understanding of the significance of teamwork and shared responsibility by splitting up the work and cooperating.
3.Planting and Watering: Students can plant the seeds or seedlings in rotations, making sure that every plant receives the right attention. They can divide up the tasks, such as planting, watering, and labeling, into pairs or small groups. The students' cooperation and coordination are encouraged by this work division.
4.Maintenance and Care: Students can collaborate to keep the garden in good condition as the plants flourish. This can involve doing things like weeding, watering, and keeping pests away from the plants. Working together, they discover the value of routine upkeep and how their combined efforts affect the garden's success.
5.Harvesting and Sharing: Students can collaborate to gather the produce when it is time to harvest the vegetables. They might take pleasure in the results of their labor and celebrate their hard work. Additionally, they can distribute the gathered veggies to their instructors, fellow students, or even the neighborhood, encouraging giving and cooperation.
Students develop their ability to cooperate, communicate, and assist one another by participating in these activities together. They learn the importance of cooperating to achieve a common objective and form a sense of brotherhood.
