*rammar 7ranslation 'irect 0ethod Audio Lingual 6ilent :ay 6uggestopedia and 7otal Physical 5esponse are other language teaching approaches. 7he *rammar 7ranslation is a method of teaching foreign languages deriYed from the classical method of teaching *reeN and Latin. 7he student memori]es words inflected words and syntactic rules and uses them to translate from natiYe to target language. ,n the 'irect 0ethod the language is not used at all in the classroom and students must learn the new language without formal instruction it is based on theories of first language acTuisition. Audio Lingual is the use of dialogs and audio. ,t is an assumption that language learning is acTuired mainly through imitation repetition and reinforcement influenced by Psychology. 7his approach to language learning was similar to another earlier method called the direct method. LiNe direct method the audio lingual method adYised students to be taught a language directly without using the students’ natiYe language to e[plain new words or grammar in the target language. +oweYer unliNe the direct method the audio lingual method is not focused on teaching Yocabulary. 5ather the teacher drilled students in the use of grammar. 7he silent way is a methodology of teaching language based on the idea that teachers should be as silent as possible during a class but learners should be encouraged to speaN as much as possible. 7eachers remain passiYe obserYers while students learn in the 6ilent :ay. ,t is the process of personal growth where in no grammatical e[planation or modeling by the teacher. ,n 6uggestopedia students always remain comfortable and rela[ed and learn through memori]ation of meaningful te[ts although the goal is understanding. A teaching method based on the idea how the human brain worNs and how we learn most effectiYely. ,t includes a rich sensory learning a positiYe e[pectation of success and the use of a Yaried range of methods liNe dramati]ed te[t music actiYe participation in songs and games. Lastly 7otal Physical 5esponse permits the students play actiYe role as listener and performer must respond to imperatiYe drills with physical action.

2ne approach may not be suitable for all students. ,n fact there is no approach that will fit or cater to all students. +oweYer 'irect 0ethod and 6uggestopedia are the most releYant to use in teaching the language. %asically in order for a student to learn the language one must use the language eYen without formal instruction. ,n 'irect 0ethod natiYe language is being e[cluded and not to be used in the classroom. 7hus students learn best when the target language is being used as well as learning it could be in the form of listening speaNing writing and reading. Also 'irect method pertains that teacher uses the target language in giYing e[amples or elucidating something not allowing the natiYe language of the students to be used. 2n the other hand 6uggestopedia is the most noticeable characteristics in which the decoration furniture and arrangement of the classroom the use of music and the authoritatiYe behaYior of the teacher are seen. Lastly 6uggestopedia includes a rich sensory learning a positiYe e[pectation of success and the use of a diYerse range of methods liNe dramati]ed te[t music actiYe participation in songs and actiYities such as games or tasNs.
