THE FUTURE LEADERS INSIDE THE CLASSROOM
MARY AGATHA CLARE C. LUGUE
The leaders of our government began as pupils and students inside the classrooms. They were once the youth in search of wisdom and were then yearning for guidance. Behind their eventual emergence as government leaders, are experiences of leadership and governance – encounters that shaped their very definition of position and power.
Education is one of the significant institutions that plays an instrumental role in the landscaping of these significant experiences that fostered the emergence of leaders. In fact, it might even be at school where the leaders of today got to first learn, define, and experience how is it being a leader.
Through the different school activities, beginning with participating in a simple group activity forward to holding leadership positions in school organizations, school learners are gradually introduced and immersed to the reality of leadership.
Herein, it becomes crucial that the education sector engineer learning activities that will enhance not only the leadership skills of the learners but will also deepen their moral aspects. Skills and good attitude come hand in hand in the making of a good leader.
Developing the practice of intelligent leadership and morally upright governance in schools is imbibing among the youth the culture of integrity. School experiences greatly impacts the outlook development of the youth far reaching in their adulthood. Hence, fostering the youth into wise and morally upright leaders beginning at schools is better shaping the future governing landscape.
