(ven in the middle of the dreadful effects of &29,D pandemic, 1ational 1utrition &ouncil leads the whole nation in celebrating 1utrition 0onth. ,n pursuance to this initiative, the Department of (ducation also undertaNes significant efforts in the conduct of activities for the month long celebration. ,t is undeniably sad to note that maMority of the people today are in a poor state of health and what maNes it worse is that they don¶t care to maNe an effort of changing their course of life. Diseases they say can either be inherited or acTuired. 7hough some certain ailments may be genetically inherited, a person¶s lifestyle has an immense effect in permitting or preventing these diseases to manifest later in life. :e are what we eat. 2ur body is made up of cells and new cells form from the food we eat. 7he advocacy now is nutrition in the cellular level. &ell nutrition is vital because the condition of these millions of cells in our body determines our state of health. :hen there is a decline in health, this will result to the emergence of deteriorating physical condition. :ith the abundance of food choices these days, it is Tuite a chal lenge to choose those that are beneficial to our wellbeing over the ones which are detrimental to our health. 1utritionist $nn :igmore once said ³7he food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison´. ,t taNes great determination to taNe the first small step and believe that this will bring even greater achievements someday. Diet doesn¶t mean eating less, it is more of eating right. (at right and be physically active then you¶re closer to your goal of living a healthy life. 7hese things should be clearly e[plained and taught to our student in school. 7hey are greatly responsible to their health status and well being. 6tudents given the right guidance in food that they eat and nutrition they need, conseTuently, their school performance improves and their ability to process and learn new things increase in the same manner.
