Each school has a lot of educational problems that arise whenever academic school year starts and one of the major problems that our present education secretary-Sara Duterte also investigate it is the very low literacy skills of the learners. Why until now we face this challenge? What do you think the root cause that learners even in his/her high school life experience the difficulty to read and write? Can we blame the elementary teachers who first taught them how to read and write? Who shall be blamed? Let’s find out!

They said that teachers have a vital role in the academic foundation of the learners. They teach learners at an early age how to read and write but do you think this is enough or is there other means for them to excel more? Do the parents have their role in molding the academic skills of their children?

Teachers give their best effort in teaching the learners the fundamental skills specifically reading and writing. If at an early age for about five years old, the student has the hard time to read and write therefore, they will encounter problems when they move on to the next level that’s why Kinder teachers has the big role for the learners acquire necessary skills. But as a parent, do you just let the teachers teach them? Or are you one of the parents who is hands on who always checks and monitors the academic performance? So well actually there is a good benefit if you do that thing. Yes, Teachers are responsible for the learning process but sometimes due to the large number of learners they can’t focus on teaching one on one, that’s why as educational partners should help the teachers in teaching their children so that they can also check the academic progress of their children.

Let us help the teachers in molding the minds of the learners by simply doing the follow-ups at home. You can continue what the teachers taught for a particular day by this kind of effort I think we can solve the problem in reading until the school will eventually achieve its goal into Zero Non-readers.

Helping one another is the key to success most especially in every institution whether in public or private. With the collaborative effort of teachers and parents all the academic goals will be achieved!

Let us help one another to eradicate the word non-readers in every school. Your effort and time would mean a lot so the learners will all become independent readers soon.
