- RIANNE SHARMAINE S. PALISOC

We are the masters of our own happiness. This means that we can all achieve happiness if we train our hearts and minds, and if we work on our attitudes and outlook. But what does it mean to train our hearts and minds for happiness? Being optimistic, expressing gratitude, and concentrating on our strengths are just a few strategies for cultivating a good outlook. In addition to these benefits, nurturing and valuing our relationships also makes us feel more connected, supported, and loved. Additionally, there are other methods to enjoy the present and all of life's blessings, such being introspective, inquisitive, and grateful. One is to nurture and enjoy our relationships. These bonds can make us feel more loved, connected, and supported. They can also enrich our lives with meaning and joy. Another way is to live in the moment and savor life’s pleasures. This means being mindful, curious, and appreciative of the things that make us happy. We can improve our happiness and general well-being by implementing these suggestions into our everyday life. In essence, one of the best ways to practice them is to READ! Reading can make us happier and less stressed and depressed. Reading can also improve our social cognition and empathy. Reading can even help us live longer. In a fabulous essay published in The New Yorker in 2015, Ceridwen Dovey stated, "Reading fiction makes me lose all sense of self, but at the same time makes me feel most uniquely myself." This paradoxical statement captures the essence of how reading fiction can transform us. Some individuals believe that reading is a simple skill to learn. Reading is actually a difficult procedure that requires a wide range of abilities. By immersing ourselves in the lives and minds of fictional characters, we can temporarily escape from our own self-narratives and experience different perspectives and emotions. This can help us develop empathy, theory of mind, and critical thinking. Reading fiction can also help us discover new aspects of ourselves, as we relate to the characters and their struggles, and reflect on our own values and choices. Reading fiction can thus enrich our sense of self and our understanding of others. There is an inexplicable pleasure you can get from reading a captivating novel with engaging characters, a lovely setting, and exquisite prose that draws you into the story. For example, reading a captivating novel is like going on an adventure with new friends in a beautiful place where you can feel the emotions, thoughts, and experiences of the characters as if they were your own. As though you were actually there, you can picture the sights, sounds, and scents of the environment. It makes one feel as if she or he is listening to music as they can appreciate the ability and beauty of the words that tell the story. Reading a captivating novel is a way of living more than one life and discovering more than one world. Therefore, make reading a part of your daily routine and see the difference it can make in your life. There are habits that can help us cultivate a positive mindset that can boost our mood and resilience. The interconnected knowledge and literacy skills that students can apply across fields to improve general understanding are the source of reading's power. Regular reading can make people feel happier and less anxious. Reading allows people to escape from their difficulties and anxieties and experience a different world. Additionally, reading can increase intelligence and empathy for others. People who read longer and sleep better at night. Since reading has the power to improve people's lives, it is a good habit to get into.
