RIANNE SHARMAINE S. PALISOC
Reading is a valuable hobby that has many positive effects on our lives. Reading can help us become more proficient speakers, increase our knowledge base, spark our creativity, and sharpen our critical thinking abilities. Here are few advantages of reading in this essay, along with how it can improve our ability to learn and behave as citizens. Enhancing our linguistic abilities is one advantage of reading. Reading exposes us to a wide range of terminology, phrases, and writing styles, which can aid in our learning of new grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. Indeed, reading teaches us how to communicate ideas effectively, convincingly, and creatively, it can also help us become better communicators. Reading can also improve our speaking and listening abilities since it allows us to participate in debates and discussions about the books we read. Reading also has the virtue of increasing our knowledge. Reading gives us access to a multitude of knowledge and perspectives from many academic areas, including physics, philosophy, literature, history, and more. In addition to enhancing our knowledge of various cultures, viewpoints, and experiences, reading can help us extend our perspectives and become more globally conscious. As we learn about new subjects and issues that can excite and challenge us, reading can also help us grow in our curiosity and passion for learning. Imagination stimulation is a third advantage of reading. Reading allows us to see the scenes and events that authors describe, as well as to go inside the author's and the characters' worlds. Reading allows us to use our imagination to expand the storyline or fill in the blanks, it can also help us write our own stories and scenarios. Since reading allows us to explore many genres, forms, and writing techniques, it can also help us enhance our creativity and originality. Give students a variety of reading alternatives and forms, including print, digital, audio, and visual. This can accommodate their various requirements, preferences, and learning styles. To improve their reading comprehension, children should be encouraged to use a variety of techniques and resources, including summarizing, questioning, predicting, clarifying, and visualizing. This could assist them in tracking their own learning and development. Reading can improve our critical thinking, which is a fourth advantage of reading. Analyzing, assessing, and interpreting the text and the points it makes is encouraged as we read. Since reading allows us to evaluate the merits and limitations of the author's arguments and conclusions, it can also aid in the development of our logical and reasoning abilities. Because reading encourages reflection on the ideals and concepts presented in the text, it can also aid in the development of our moral and ethical judgment.
