INCORPORATING 21ST CENTURY SKILLS
JERRY R. TUAZON
It is up to the teacher to decide whether or not to use ICT in the classroom, it calls for careful planning, collaboration, and ongoing involvement from you. ICT integration is the process by which teachers use ICT in the classroom to introduce, reinforce, expand, enrich, assess, and remediate students' understanding of curricular targets. Effective ICT integration in education depends on you, the teacher, and it won't work to send your children to the computer lab to learn ICT skills while you take care of other things. A major argument in favor of integrating technology in the classroom is the understanding that ICT resources are instruments with particular functions for which they are designed. This can be guaranteed by organizing the integration of ICT into the classroom, which enables students to view technology as a tool to support and improve learning
Making technology transparent is the ultimate goal of improving pupils' ICT skills, learners should be so focused on using technology to achieve other objectives that they hardly even notice they are using it for that purpose. Teachers who want to learn more about enabling learning by incorporating 21st century skills in ICT can visit the online workshop to see examples of lesson plans that integrate technology in relevant ways. It will take you on a journey of discovery covering the fundamentals of ICT integration in teaching and learning.
