BLOATED IN NUMBERS, DROWNED IN POVERTY
An Article About A Social Problem (National), Filipino Population Hike and Its Impacts
Grasping the heed of the Philippines having a drastic annual population growth evidently portrays an easy way in order for the country to drift down its economy faster. Yet, no matter how escalated the number of citizens in the country is, most people still show no interest or cooperation in taking their irresponsible actions into account. With this constant culture still present, it will surely affect all the Filipino people, especially those who are already falling below the poverty line. During the recent year, 2023, the Filipino population has peaked at more than 117 million already, which may one day lead to post numerous natural dilemmas and with this drastically increasing number, there is no doubt that most people are really starting to cut the longevity line of the country’s economy.
Firstly, this could be a probable way of how the country's labor force will at last be powered up. Yet, it proves to be very helpless to witness a sheer number of people having only limited job opportunities. To this, it leaves people no choice but to work overseas, otherwise, a big part of unemployed citizens still choose to not work which really opposes what an increased population expects in its workforce. Moreover, a guaranteed conflict that the Philippines may have to face for the next couple of years is the overexploitation of resources and unsustainable consumption patterns of its citizens. Due to the incessant growth of the population, Filipinos will surely suffer from poverty because their unlimited necessities and luxuries are only coming from limited resources. Lastly, ecological degradation, such as a dying biodiversity and increased spikes in pollution, may take place if the country’s population keeps on inflating extremely. These effects of overpopulation will post a huge conflict the country must face, yet if Filipino people start changing the culture where the necessities come into mind only after careless decisions have been made, this little step may be a milestone in the future.
At the end of the day, a nation's problem seeks a national solution which always starts from the homes of each Filipino that may one day have the power to make the Philippines a stable and developed country.
