DIVERSITY ALONG THE YEARS

An Article About A Global Social Problem, Discrimination in Diversity

Diversity, in no doubt, is a concept that our society has embraced over the several years — from differences in language, culture, and race, down to gaps in gender, religion, and nationality. However, looking beyond the sides of the world, this embracing of diversity sadly comes with a side of harsh discrimination, putting a huge impact on different aspects of our society, even affecting those who are innocent, pushing those people below the poverty line more and more, and even convicting those who are unprivileged as unlawful without the slightest chance of defending themselves. These are more than enough reasons for us to act like people who see others as equal human beings, instead of citizens that recognize only diversity between all the people in the globe.

From this, if we decide to change the world by reducing the harsh diversity, we should at least start the little steps with ourselves. For once, let us try not to push the beliefs we believe to other people, rather, let us influence them to become a person who is morally right and puts others first. For only once, let us try not to put other people at the expense of a decision that only benefits us, rather, let us decide for an action that actually does something for the common good. Diversity will forever be in our environment if at least one chooses to believe in it, but unity and commonality will, too, never fade in the air, as long as at least one of us does our part as moral individuals.

That is how we prevent the further impact of diversity — be a good individual and a good friend that does good to the people around us, and lastly, be a good citizen that puts social responsibility and the common good on top of personal benefits.
