THE CHANGING DYNAMICS OF LEADERSHIP
RYAN CHOY P. BALUYUT
The goal of leadership is to create capable leaders and systems. The leader was viewed as a hero with followers until recently. They were once held in high regard for their valor, extraordinary accomplishments, or noble traits. However, a leader in the twenty-first century is someone who encourages, inspires, and leads people to achieve more. These days, leaders have a great deal of power to persuade people to accomplish more. These people could be your coworkers, superiors, subordinates, or even your own elders on occasion. The role and responsibilities of a leader are evolving rapidly. Given the emerging challenges in a globalized and integrated world, achievement of organizational goals requires new kinds of leadership beyond classical thinking, centered on creativity, innovation, insight, logical sense, and acknowledging customer demands and preferences.
Therefore, latest studies have developed a new theoretical approach toward leadership styles based on the changing business and organization formations and developments. These are “lateral leadership” and “thought leadership”. Lateral leaderships replace the current subordinating approach with a focus on insight, collaboration, coordination, and creativity with all stakeholders, particularly employees, to achieve organizational goals. On the other hand, thought leadership centers on new ideas and creative methods and abandoning conventional approaches while regarding customers’ demands and its preferences first.
The ability of educational leaders to foster a positive school culture is significant. Developing relationships among staff, teachers, and students to foster mutual respect is one way that leaders can influence the culture of their school. Define expectations and foster camaraderie by establishing a common vision. Overtime, leadership shift based on the demands of the needs of the people. It continuously improved to improve every organization and be able to adapt to changes while achieving the target goals of every organization.
