AI HURDLES LEARNERS

KARLA T. SANCHEZ

-

Widespread usage of Artificial Intelligence like ChatGPT and Quill Bot are rampant today among students - this should not regularly used because it has consequences.

Education in other countries like China, Japan, Republic of Korea, and Singapore are already integrating AI in their teaching and learning process while other schools across the world are still making progress. In the Philippines, a third world country, learners do not have the same opportunity as others, because there are children who belong in poverty wherein, they cannot afford to buy a gadget or an internet access. Thus, not all Filipino children can use AI as a part of their learning process.

Using AI requires an individual to collect data privacy such as complete names, birthday, address, and contact number. This act is prohibited (Republic Act No. 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012) by law because they can use your data for adverse factors such as scamming or fraud through online. Therefore, we should be more cautious about this matter.

AI is useful for some reasons especially for academic purposes, yet using this human intelligence processes by machines like computer or robot will not help to establish the abilities and skills of a child. That is why learners should refrain themselves in this kind of technology, but rather they should try to cultivate their own capacity in learning to adapt in the educational setting.

Now, will you also avoid making use of AI for your educational purposes or continue to use it because it is convenient?
