HOME-BASED WORK IMMERSION PROGRAM OF SMHS: A FRAMEWORK FOR DEVELOPMENT
REY MARK A. IBAY
During the school year 2020-2021, Sta. Maria High School had been implemented the DepEd prescribed scheme “Home-based Work Immersion Program” in line with the implementation of work immersion. This requires learners to perform their activities and competencies at home and will be regularly monitored by the work immersion teacher. This scheme is only applicable to learners with available materials, tools, and devices that can be used to perform skills and competencies. This scheme will be utilized in schools so that parents can also monitor learners’ performance in the subject. Guidelines under DM-CI-2020-00085 on the implementation of home-based work immersion program for schools suggest activities for TVL-HE particular in Bread & Pastry Production students: designing a cake for specific celebration and baking tarts, cookies, cakes and other bakery products by oven, bread toaster or no cook process. This study provides education institutions the learners ‘perspective about home-based work immersion scheme in the subject. This will give other schools suggested programs and activities to be implemented. This will also provide DepEd curriculum implementers and TESDA officials guidelines in equipping learners to be competent with the skills needed in a particular course. Mrs. Jasmin Y. Ibay, a school TVL coordinator and work immersion teacher is conducting a research on the home-based work immersion experiences of TVL students. Her study focuses on the home-based work immersion experiences of Grade 12 TVL Track-Home Economics Strand students. The researcher will explore the process and implementation of home-bases work immersion as a scheme for learners under the modular distance learning delivery modality. The result of study would be the framework for development and intervention for future implementation.
