Primary pupils can be challenging to teach at times, but with proper and effective strategies, we can still in them the love and interest for knowledge. As educators, we must always strive to understand our pupils better. Children at this stage are simply beginning their educational careers. School maybe intimidating for some of the pupils in our class, so in order to encourage everyone to participate, it is important to make our lesson relaxed and fun. Primary pupils will be learning basic material but you can design creative lessons that get pupils moving around and speaking with one another. Kids are commonly very captivated with songs, especially if they could sing along. Active games are also an efficient way to spark their minds. Be firm to offer lots of encouragement and feedback. You want to make a safe, free from stress environment that everybody can enjoy learning. Moreover, we must also master how our young learners behave. Keep exercises enjoyable and quick because these individuals have short attention spans and are easily unfocussed. Animation and projection will help keep the focus on you. Teach pupils a way to behave in a classroom and raise their hands if they have questions or want to answer a question. Encourage them to speak their mind and learn the value of respect of one’s perspectives. This will train their mind o critically think and conscious to others feelings. It is important that the pupils learn good behavior early on, as it will make their transition to primary school easier. Furthermore, it is also important to teach them to respond to basic classroom phrases such as “Please sit down,” because these are expressions that they will hear repeatedly throughout their study. For children at this age, we as teachers, are responsible not only for starting their next level of education. Pupils will carry out higher of their training if they behave nicely and have better understanding in basic principles. To conclude, there are many other things you can do to ensure that pupils succeed in class. Be sure to tract individual and class progress so that a pupil can visually see what they have learned and how they are doing. Encourage pupils to try their best and create constructive learning environment where children do not need to worry about making mistakes. Create activities and exercises that are entertaining, as well as help pupils to learn how to interact with one another. As a teacher and second parent, we play an important role in helping them develop into lifelong learners. Forster a love of learning creating lesson plans that appeal to them, suit their maturity level, and focus on what will help them to excel in the future. The opportunity to educate young learners is the opportunity to shape another person’s life forever. Lastly, reading skills are vital in improving the performance level of pupils in every subject they take throughout the entire learning. This will lead to a lifelong learning that every Filipino child must have to lead and succeed.
