President Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos Jr. has ordered the improvement of the Philippines’ Senior high school curriculum to increase the chances of producing more employable graduates. This is to include technical and vocational training in the previous curriculum. He believes that conjoining these above-mentioned skills will give graduates more chances to be employed for both local and global offices. The addition of these skills training allows the President to expand his connections to the Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The said agencies will serve as the Technical Working Group in restructuring the Senior High School Curriculum to enhance jog matching, better employability and worker competitiveness.
Philippine Institute for Development Studies report says that there is only 1 among 5 or only 20% graduates are being employed. Due to this, the President is urges to restructuring the curriculum and aligning it to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to further enhance the skills, opportunities available to students and to increase employment rate from senior high school graduates. Teachers will play a crucial role in the restructuring of the said curriculum; their contributions are essential in shaping and implementing changes that align with its goals and objectives. Their dedication to teaching will definitely contribute in the achievement of the President’s order.
