REGION III DOMINATES NATIONAL CONTEST DURING 81ST ARAW NG KAGITINGAN AND PHILIPPINE VETERANS WEEK

Region III has emerged as winners in the different National contests during the 81st Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week held last April 5-12, 2023.

The Department of Education, through External Partnership Services (EPS) and Curriculum and Teaching Strand, in cooperation with Department of National Defense (DND), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), and Veterans Federations of the Philippines (VFP) , conducted the Poster-Making, Oratorical, Essay Writing and Song Writing contests as part of commemoration in 81st Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week.

The national winners of the four contests conducted for the above-cited events are the following:

The theme, “Kagitingan ng mga Beterano, Pundasyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino,” aims to remember the veterans whose courage and sacrifices became the very foundation of the country’s freedom. Their stories of heroism and of working together reminded every Filipino of the value of solidarity and unity in nation-building.

In addition, the Regional Office through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division hold Virtual Lakbay Lecture Series titled “LAKANDIWA Deconstructed: Uncovering the Significance of the Battle of Bataan through Cultural Lenses” last April 10, 2023.

Araling Panlipunan teachers and learners participated the activity. The objective of the activity is to shed light on the ethos of Filipino soldiers who fought in the Battle of Bataan and their contribution to the country's history and culture and to promote and raise national consciousness and appreciation of the local culture and history.
