EFFECT OF GOOD TEACHER-STUDENT RELATIONSHIP IN LEARNING DEVELOPMENT
Each of us can point to a teacher who made a big impact in his or her life, and also to one who made a negative impact to the learners for a short time. Why? Because the teacher-student relationship is at the heart of teaching. Learners aren’t going to school to learn from someone they don’t like, to someone they are afraid of, that’s why good teacher-student relationship is a one of the corner stone in effective learning development of the learners inside the classroom. But what is a positive teacher-student relationship?
Teachers should have a positive relationship to his or her learners that every learner feel the warm and support of teachers but not overly dependent and should have boundaries. The teacher that show good relationship among the his/ her students believe that his/her learners can learn and have different ability to learn that teachers need to recognize. Teachers should set high expectation among learners to feel of every learner that his or her teacher is rooting to their ability, it also builds confidence to them to learn new things. It also gives motivation, trust, and conflict free relationship for teacher and student.
Student believe that good teachers listen, have sympathy and empathy in students’ lives. It will give a harmonious relationship to both teacher and student. It will also give a best foundation of trust for both parties that will have a good result also in the learning development of the learner. Good teachers also show respect, value the uniqueness of each learners, kind and polite. Teachers want to be respected and also students too. Respect, value each other, be kind, and use polite words is a complete recipe to have a good relationship that will mark not only inside the classroom, it will leave a mark that will last forever. Good teachers help students with schoolwork, make the lesson interesting and fun, manage the class very well, and most importantly they teach with passion. Teachers even they are tired and not feeling well they not forget to plan on how to make the class interested and make the lesson light to the learners.
A good teacher-student relationship will not be possible to happen if each of them don’t want to devote their time, love, respect, and value. A good relationship inside the classroom is a savory flavor to the learning development of every student it will encourage both teacher and learner to be the best that they can be if they feel that they are appreciated and loved. It will also ignite the energy to the teacher to teach and fill the minds of every learner, and teach not only the knowledge coming from the book but also to teach with love and passion. It will benefit both teacher and student if they have good relationship inside the classroom it will lighten the tasks, it will bring joy in their hearts and in their minds.
All teachers and students want a good relationship inside the classroom. And how sweet to imagine if all teachers have this kind of relationship to his or her students. It is possible if we go in our classroom with smile, if we have joy in our hearts, if we pour love in everything that we do, if we respect each other, if we speak with politeness, if we work together and lift each other up.
