Reflections on/ for the Holy Week

-

ONCE a year, we are given the opportunity to reflect on our spirituality, this much I can say to fellow :Christians in general and to the Catholics is general.

Slated to be observed on the last week of March this year, the Holy Week tradition started with the traditional Ash Wednesday with mass celebrations remiding the faithful that since we came from dust, we will return to dust. Ergo, the markings on the foreheads of the faithful.

That being said, the holidays before the Holy Week will give us ample time to reflect and ponder on our mortality and do what is requisite.

Most Catholics prepare for the Holy Week by religiously observing masses in different venues. Others travel to various places following the Visita Iglesia rituals but rarely do they fasting and penance. To them, hearing masses will suffice.

Truly, penace and prayer are done by the really devoted Catholics among us and other do the Visita Iglesia during the Holy Week. Other devout Catholics do the Via Crucis or the way of the cross remembering what Jesus Christ went through on his way to crucifixion.

Still others carry beads of rosary whey they endlessly recite the mysteries –joyful and glorious.

Some are transfixed into long prayes and longer hours of meditation. Which side are you on?

There are several ways we can unite with fellow Cathlics in the observancew of the Holy Week.

Holy masses are conducted regularly in various parish churches in the city where we can devote at least an hour of prayer. There in the solemn confines of churches we can ponder and medidate on our mortality and seek guidance of God Almighty.

Ours is just a fraction of a lifetime. To those who have reached at least seventy years, happy are we for the bonus years and we cannot be faulted if we ask for more.
