TEACHERS ARE FOREVER LEARNERS
JACQUELYN SAMSON VILLARUZ
Great educators are lifelong learners. They possess a diverse set of skills, ranging from their professional expertise to additional areas of knowledge. They need to upskill themselves for the benefit of the learners. Teachers cannot teach what they do not have. Teachers are always learning and acquiring new knowledge, even as they teach others. It emphasizes the idea that teaching is a continuous process of growth and development. Learning is essential for teachers for several reasons: (1) Professional Development: Continuous learning helps teachers stay updated with the latest research, teaching methods, and technologies, improving their effectiveness in the classroom. (2) Enhanced Teaching Skills: Learning new techniques and approaches can enhance teaching skills, making lessons more engaging and effective for students; (3) Adapting to Change: Education is constantly evolving, so teachers need to learn to adapt to new curriculum standards, student needs, and societal changes; (4) Modeling Lifelong Learning: By being learners themselves, teachers model the importance of lifelong learning to their students, encouraging them to value learning throughout their lives. Personal Growth: and (5) Learning can also lead to personal growth, expanding teachers' perspectives and enriching their lives outside of the classroom. Thus, it is essential to equip themselves on the new information and knowledge on pedagogical approaches in teaching and learning. Educators must remain inspired to act as lifelong learning guides in communities, equipping students with the abilities to navigate uncertainty and contemporary challenges.
