WHY TEACHERS KEEP LEARNING: THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

-

MARY ANN B. CAPATI, ED.D

Teachers are like superheroes in schools, helping students learn and grow. But did you know that even superheroes need to keep learning too? Continuing education for teachers is like their secret power, making them even better at what they do. Imagine you have a favorite game, and you want to become a champion. You practice and learn new moves to get better, right? Well, teachers are a bit like that. They go to special classes and workshops to learn new and exciting ways to teach. This helps them understand students even more and makes learning in the classroom super interesting. When teachers keep learning, it's like adding new colors to their teaching palette. They discover fun and creative ways to explain things, making it easier for students to understand. Sometimes, they even find cool games and activities to make learning feel like an adventure! Continuing education is also important because the world is always changing. New ideas, technologies, and ways of thinking are popping up all the time. Teachers want to stay updated so they can share the latest and greatest with their students. It's like having a guide who knows all the best paths through a big, exciting jungle of knowledge. Just like superheroes need to train regularly to keep their powers strong, teachers need to keep learning to be the best they can be. And guess what? When teachers are happy and excited about learning, it rubs off on students too! It creates a classroom where everyone is eager to discover new things. So, the next time you see your teacher reading a book or going to a class, remember that they are adding more tools to their teaching toolbox. They're doing it to make your learning journey even more awesome. Teachers and students learning together – now that's a winning team!
