THE EDUCATION WOES

IVY EMILY N. PEREZ

An unsteady path to achievement. These lines perfectly sum up the state of our educational system right now, as our students are receiving ever-lower-quality education because of the higher seats' disregard for its shortcomings. This may result in uneducated professionals and a dysfunctional community. How long will the government continue to act deafly? Will the government wait until unclean professionals lead the nation's economy to collapse?

There are so many visible factors that can testify to prove that our school system is a failure. The fact that these factors are so obvious and been a problem for a long time, it's quite questionable that the government still hasn't made a move to address these issues up to this day.

One of the most important yet ignored factor that affects the quality of the education are the teaching staffs itself. Most of our educators are overwhelmed with too much works. Some are teaching double subjects that are not even their forte.

Most teachers are also forced to have side hustles to cope up with the next issue, which is the salary of our lecturers. Filipino teachers are underpaid which results in them having multiple jobs and burns them out, causing poor teaching outcomes.

The main problem behind underpaid teaching staffs is the government's low fund for our educational system which is also a cause of poor education.

The government's insufficient budget for the our schools results in lack of school equipments and paraphernalia like textbooks, armchairs, monitors and blackboards. Low funds can also mean weak school infrastructure that could put the life of our students in great risk.

We are all aware that the future of the children are shaped in schools. We are well aware that education beholds the future of the nation, for it molds future professionals that will soon maneuver the country's society. Will the government keep pretending to not hear these woes? The trade of solving educational crisis for concerts and parties doesn't seem a wise decision to make.
