ICT'S IMPACT ON EDUCATION

SHERLEY S. DE LEON

-

The primary aim of educators in the modern era is to meet the demand for high-quality education. Academic excellence is the goal of the Department of Education's (DepEd) plans, objectives, and programs. Students' performance output, which can be expressed as their average achievement after the school year, determines the efficacy and efficiency of the institution.

As a result of the quick advancements in technology, the education sector has undergone a tremendous transformation in recent years. Teachers and students can now benefit from a high-quality 21st-century education system that focuses on teaching, learning, and assessment practices. The Department of Education (DepEd) acknowledges that educators and educational institutions are continuously working to improve instruction, student learning, and assessment methods. A crucial component of this work is keeping up the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into the curriculum at all levels of education.

A technological tool or device used in education to improve instruction is called educational technology. Examples of educational technology include models, audio, video, digital media, and projected and non-projected visual media. Teachers' perspectives may be more limited, and they're likely to limit educational technology to computers, computer accessories, and related software that's used for instruction.

This suggests that educators should create motivational techniques for their students to maintain their attention as the lesson moves along and to take into account the fact that every student learns differently and has a preferred learning style. Many education reformers agree that computer technology and digital media have significantly transformed all aspects of our lives, and they must play a significant role in the ongoing efforts to personalize education.

A teacher may think about the advantages of implementing information and communication technology (ICT) in the classroom as time goes on and technology becomes more ingrained in students' lives. Students are using technology more often to communicate, and implementing it in the classroom has the potential to improve student communication. If educators can integrate ICT into the classroom, students might bring up pertinent details that could enhance the quality of their learning.

ICT uses a variety of information technology tools to improve pupils' comprehension and recall capacity. ICT has a positive and negative impact on pupils' academic performance, but the positive effects exceed the negative ones.
