E-BIKES FOR STUDENTS’ TRANSPORTATION

- RELINA P. BATAC

As we embark on our journey towards cleaner air and environment, there is a transport innovation that is perhaps needs to be adopted and supported by the government. Of course, with some regulations.

Recently, I came across some parents of our students taking their children to school using their simple electronic bikes (or trikes) or simply e-bikes. Perhaps, these mode of modern transportation are easy to drive that simple housewives do know how to drive them even if they have no actual experience of driving fuel-fed vehicles on roads.

These vehicles were designed may be for short distances, which means they are conducive in travelling distances from most residences to many elementary and high schools.

One thing that I like most about these e-vehicles is the fact that they are environment friendly. They do not use diesel or gasoline but electricity. Diesel and gasoline come from crude oil and are considered as non-renewable which means that once non-renewable sources of energy becomes depleted, then there is no replacement whatsoever and we have to look for other sources of energy.

E-vehicles likewise do not emit harmful gases which gradually poison the air we breathe. They do not discharge pollutants like those vehicles which uses liquid fuel for their power source. Just a thought, if all people can afford to buy and use e-vehicles, they can significantly contribute to the efforts of helping mother earth.
