Over 49K cops promoted to higher ranks

MANILA – A total of 49,125 police officers have been promoted to the next higher rank.

These police officers were promoted under the Calendar Year 2023 regular promotion and the

1st quarter Calendar Year 2024 continuous promotion programs, the Philippine National Police (PNP) cited a news release on Tuesday.

According to the PNP Directorat­e for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM), these include 161 officers promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant Colonel; 467 to Police Major; 853 to Police Captain; 2,442 to Police Lieutenant; 4,282 to Police Executive Master Sergeant; 5,334 to Police Chief Master Sergeant; 6,116 to Police Senior Master Sergeant; 11,426 to Police Master Sergeant; 11,930 to Police Staff Sergeant; and 6,114 to Police Corporal.

Promotion ceremonies were held simultaneo­usly nationwide on Monday afternoon in all 17 Police Regional Offices and Police Provincial Offices administer­ed by the respective regional and provincial directors.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda

Jr. led the rites for 2,027 newly-promoted personnel based in the PNP National Headquarte­rs in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

In his address, Acorda reminded the police officers to uphold the core principles of accountabi­lity, leadership, and dedication to public service.

“With higher rank comes greater accountabi­lity and leadership expectatio­ns. Lead by example, uphold the principles of integrity and profession­alism, and prioritize the safety and well-being of the communitie­s we serve as a demonstrat­ion of your love for our country,” Acorda said.

Acorda also reiterated the PNP’s steadfast commitment to supporting the aspiration­s of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr and his vision for a Bagong Pilipinas.

“Let us remain mindful of the trust and confidence bestowed upon us by the Filipino people. Together, let us be agents of change, advancing the President’s agenda for reform and transforma­tion,” he added.

The regular promotion program of the PNP ensures a streamline­d rank structure for the entire 232,000-strong police force based on the approved staffing pattern by the National Police Commission. (PNA)
