REVIVING NATIONAL PRIDE: STRATEGIES TO FOSTER MAKABANSA AMONG FILIPINO YOUTH

As we enter the final quarter of the academic year 2023-2024, it is crucial to reflect on strategies that can contribute to the growth and development of our country. The principles of Maalam, Makabansa, Mapanagutan, and Maki-alam serve as guiding pillars in this endeavor. Among these principles, Makabansa holds a special significance, as it highlights the importance of national pride and identity. Unfortunately, many students today are unfamiliar with essential national symbols and pledges, such as the Philippine National Anthem "Lupang Hinirang," the Panatang Makabayan, and the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas. To promote Makabansa among the youth, I have assigned them to memorize these important elements and create videos of themselves reciting them as part of their performance task.

By assigning students to memorize and recite the Philippine National Anthem, Panatang Makabayan, and Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, we aim to instill a sense of national pride and identity. These patriotic symbols and pledges connect students to their country's history, values, and aspirations. Through this assignment, students are encouraged to reflect on the significance of these national symbols and their role as responsible citizens. By actively engaging in reciting and understanding these pledges, students develop a deeper appreciation for their country and become active participants in its growth and development.

Furthermore, this assignment promotes the principles of Maalam, Mapanagutan, and Maki-alam. By requiring students to memorize and recite these important national symbols, we foster a sense of responsibility and accountability. Students become aware of their role in upholding and preserving the values and traditions of their country. Additionally, this assignment encourages students to actively engage with their peers and families, as they may seek support and guidance in memorizing and reciting these pledges. This collaborative effort strengthens the sense of community and unity among students, promoting a collective responsibility for the growth and development of our nation. Through these efforts, we empower our students to become active agents of change, fostering a brighter future for our nation.
