Solar, wind-powered water and lighting project gilusad
Nahimutang sa ibabaw sa taas nga bukid sa lungsod sa Carmen, Bohol ang komunidad sa Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Montesuerte nga benepisaryo gikan sa usa ka talagsaong proyekto nga naggamit sa gahom sa solar ug kusog sa hangin alang sa tubig ug suga.
Ang proyekto gipangulohan sa Sibol ng Agham sa Teknolohiya Inc. (Sibat) ug Misereor (German Catholic Bishops’ Organisation for Development Cooperation).
Uban sa pakigtambayayong sa probinsyal ug lokal nga gobyerno, GlobalGiving, Anakata Wind Power Resources, ug Center for Neighborhood Studies.
Kini nga inisyatiba nagtumong sa pag-atubang sa kritikal nga mga hagit sa kanihit sa tubig ug limitado nga access sa elektrisidad sa 28 ka mga panimalay sa lugar.
Pinaagi sa paggamit sa renewable energy, ilabina ang Small Wind Turbines, ang proyekto nagsaad nga maghatag og kasaligang suplay sa tubig alang sa lokal ug pang-agrikultura nga panginahanglan, samtang naghatag usab og malungtarong solusyon sa suga.
Ang sistema gidesinyo aron makagama og labing gamay nga 5kW nga gahom, pagseguro nga ang pumping ug disinfection sa labing menos 125 ka litro sa domestic nga tubig kada capita kada adlaw, samtang nagsuplay usab og hangtod sa tulo ka mga LED nga bombilya alang sa matag pamilya.

When the dry season comes, our water sources dry up. This solar and wind-powered water system will surely be of great help to all of us here. Not only will the project provide water for our crops, this will also provide us with potable drinking water. We can’t thank enough SIBAT and Governor and Mayor for putting up this project.”

“In addition to the transformative project at Sitio Mahayahay, Bohol is also home to two other groundbreaking renewable energy initiatives: the Solar-Powered Irrigation and Domestic Water System in Sitio Banat-e, Barangay San Jose, Mabini, and the Wind-Solar Powered Water Project in Ubay,” matod ni Estrella Catarata, Sibat Executive Director.
