The Home of a True Visionary
CEO Frederick Yuson has made a name for himself by establishing the solid foundation of furniture and architectural company CWC International Corporation, CWC Interiors, the company's retail arm, is set to launch a new showroom featuring the most premium brands
Businessman Frederick Yuson wears many hats. Aside from managing the day-to-day operations of multi-product furniture company CWC International Corporation and being the chairman of Mutya ng Pilipinas Inc., he is busy working on Davao Global Township, a 22-hectare property owned by his family—the Villa-abrille clan, which launched in the first quarter of the year. He is currently a director for and was formerly a president of the Camera Club of the Philippines.
The joint venture’s goal was by Cebu Landmasters Inc and the Yhest Realty and Development Corporation to transform the area into a business district with over 70 buildings designed by renowned architectural firm RKTL Group. The township will have world-class residential and corporate amenities, and providing convenience to residents, it will also put up cultural arts centre and shopping malls that will launch Davao into the global map.
Yuson’s thriving ventures and his experience and background in the furniture business influenced the conceptualisation of his home. “With my 25 years of experience in the furniture and residential business, I already had a picture of what my home would look like,” says the CEO. “With the furniture brands we carry like Herman Miller, Vitra, Walter Knoll, and Lando Italia, this is the perfect house to showcase the pieces and entertain guests.” To turn his home into a reality, he commissioned architect Rolando Mercado and interior designer Alessandra Marie Campos Mercado of RMDA Architects, whose clients include Ayala, Salcedo, and Jollibee.
Rolando and Alessandra wanted a laid-back, clean, and a minimalistic feel, similar to the modern architecture of the Eames House, which served as their inspiration. They treated it as a canvas for Yuson’s statement pieces, 80 per cent of which were sourced from CWC International.
“We used neutrals so that the pop of colours from his pieces of furniture and accessories can stand out,” Alessandra says. “We wanted to enhance it in a subtle way. We also used Narra to furnish the ceiling and stairs. That element makes it also modern Filipino.”
The space was also designed to entertain guests. The living room, kitchen, and the garden are spacious enough to accompany 70-80 people, and each space is separated by movable sliding doors. “We divided these for a practical purpose. With each portion, he can entertain big groups,” Rolando explains.
INNOVATING FOR GROWTH
Yuson started as a salesperson and eventually rose up the corporate ladder. Through this, he was able to learn the ways of the company before acquiring it fully three years ago. He knew that a firm’s success is built on team effort, and as CEO, this is the same culture he cultivated to produce great engagement. “As a company, we have learned to value people, partnerships, and clients that we treat as a family,” he explains.
Under Yuson’s management and business prowess, CWC Interiors thrived. The retail arm of the company specialises in home furniture and accessories, decorative lighting, and sound and kitchen system brands such as Herman Miller, Vitra, Lasvit, Mohawk Flooring, Lando, Walter Knoll, Bolon, JEB wall system and Unitile flooring system. It company has exercised scrutiny in choosing what brands to distribute, partnering only with labels that have the same objectives with them. “These brands stand the test of design and quality, and because of that we are equally proud to carry them,” Yuson says.
Proof of CWC Interiors’ growth is the soft launch in Bonifacio Global City this month and its opening in October. The showroom will feature a unique concept of showcasing furniture, combining the concept of a great dining experience by chef Jessie and the essence of a speakeasy furniture bar in one setting. Designed by architect Ed Calma, the pieces will be displayed in a museum-like environment that invites people to try and imagine them in potential home settings. The showroom design also successfully integrated the brands showcased whilst keeping their distinct identities. “We promise to show you a new, warm, and inviting space,” Yuson says. “You can also expect talks with iconic designers, brands, and be ready to try new and exciting furniture pieces.”
CWC Interiors is located at 830 A Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road), San Lorenzo Village, Makati City. CWC Interiors will soon open its new showroom at GF Unit 1-3 Milestone at the 5th, 5th Avenue, BGC, Taguig City. For more info, go to cwc.com.ph or cwcinteriors.com.ph
