This Side of Paradise
True to its name, the luxury boutique hotel Amorita Resort is Alona Beach’s little darling, writes Cristina Morales
he province of bohol abounds with beauty. From geological wonders like the Chocolate Hills to unique fauna like the elusive tarsier; from its coral reefs teeming with marine life to island delicacies made with the freshest ingredients, there’s always plenty to see, taste, and experience. Southwest of Bohol Island is Panglao, a breath-taking island paradise home to some of the region’s most popular dive sites and beaches. One of the Panglao’s main attractions is Alona Beach, located along the southern edge of the island. Named after an actress from the ’70s who had shot a movie there, the beach’s white sand and blue waters have made it a must-visit destination.
Only a 40-minute drive from Bohol’s Tagbilaran Airport is Amorita Resort, the flagship property of One- Of Collection. Meaning “little darling,” Amorita has been a favourite among discerning travellers who frequent Bohol since it first opened its doors in 2007. Nestled atop the limestone cliffs at the south-eastern end of the beach, the luxury boutique hotel’s prime location allows it to strike the perfect balance between exclusivity and proximity to the beach.
Everything about Amorita exudes an air of understated elegance. Its organic modern architecture— characterised by wood, warm-hued marble, and polished cement— complements its natural surroundings instead of imposing itself onto the landscape.
The resort boasts 96 luxury suites, including 14 villas complete with their own plunge pools; outdoor infinity pools; an inhouse dive centre; stunning cliff-side views of Alona Beach and the Bohol Sea; and a
