ne drop at night, newborn skin by morning. This is the tagline that comes attached to the Platinum Rare Cellular Night Elixir, La Prairie’s latest breakthrough in regenerative skincare and the newest addition to its premium Platinum Rare line. In developing the product’s potent formula, La Prairie explored the rejuvenating process that graces the skin by nightfall, which is when vital cell renewal takes place. A unique combination of La Prairie’s Exclusive Cellular Complex and the new Advanced Platinum Complex, this elixir targets the four functions essential to complete regeneration: nutrition, respiration, detoxification, and immunity, enhancing the skin’s natural detox capabilities while boosting its defence capacity.

Philippine Tatler was privileged to be invited to the launch held at the Shangri-La at the Fort where guests were treated to a facial by well-trained La Prairie facialists. The antiageing serum, is priced at around estimated Php62,000, could be one of the most expensive beauty products in the market.

“Nutrition is key to cell renewal,” says Dr Daniel Stangl, director of innovation at La Prairie. “La Prairie’s Cellular Complex provides vitamins and building blocks such as amino acids and sugars necessary for the skin cells to synthesise essential biomolecules and cellular structures. With age and stress, cellular respiration decreases and cellular functions slow down and become less efficient. Thus, boosting cellular respiration and energy levels improves cellular metabolism.”

A perfect object of luxury, the elixir is a work of art down to its very decanter. The clear cylindrical outer vial houses an inner vial fashioned in the guise of a cut amethyst, a nod to the night sky. Its cap is held in place by magnets, and a chrome stopper houses the diamondshaped dropper that dispenses the product. Says Greg Prodromides, La Prairie’s chief marketing officer, in a press release, “Platinum is a noble, precious metal often used to make diamonds shine even brighter. Our designers had this idea in mind when they came up with the packaging of the Platinum collection. The Platinum Elixir builds on this iconic packaging identity.”

Product development took approximately three years, with La Prairie’s team of scientists staging a significant number of varying lab trials. Expert grader evaluations and selfassessments courtesy of specially selected panellists were also thrown into the mix. Other than the potency of the formula, significant attention was also given to the texture of the elixir. The goal was to develop a luxurious feel that would suit the product’s positioning, leaving skin with a protective cashmere-like layer.

As part of the Platinum R are line, the Platinum Rare Cellular Night Elixir is most effective in a skincare regimen that includes the other La Prairie products. It is designed to be applied in th e e vening after cleansing and toning, dispensed in a single drop and smoothed evenly all over the face. This is to be followed by the Platinum Rare Cellular Eye Essence, a serum that brightens the dark circles around the eyes. Next is the Platinum R are Cellular Eye Cream, which does away with fine lines and puffiness. Completing the regimen is the Platinum Rare Cellular Cream, an anti-ageing combatant.

Its claim that it can transform your skin as you sleep in one month is a bold one, but if there’s anyone who can make such promises and keep them, it’s La Prairie.
