Why they remain loyal to GMA

-

JUST A THOUGHT: “Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” – Mary Kay Ash

RAISING AWARENESS ON OTHER CINEMA: Internationally known director Brillante Mendoza maintains that a festival’s success shouldn’t be based only on box office earnings only.

Success, he said, should also be measured in terms of raising awareness on a different kind of cinema among viewers.

And this is what MMFF 2016 has achieved. Mendoza said that we are still in the process of building an audience. We must sustain it then.

Heard that MMFF 2017 is not about to repeat the ‘mistakes’, if we can call them that, of MMFF 2016.

The newly formed executive committee is made up of people friendly to the industry or those who have the heart for local films. One of them is Rep. Vilma Santos Recto, who believes the festival should be a money-maker as well as a venue for artistry.

JUST PASSING BY: I notice that on their birthdays, in their social media accounts, Facebook continues greeting people who have died.

Is there a way by which FB could be informed as to delete them? Is a Facebook account eternal? That’s a question from this hopeless centennial.

LOYAL TO GMA: Yasmien Kurdi, Glaiza de Castro, Mike Tan and Kristoffer Martin recently renewed their exclusive contracts with GMA Network. They love GMA.

DRUNK IN MANILA: A radio commercial advertising a liquor brand gives the wrong impression to young audiences that a shot of hard drink is all they need to survive in the big city.

Says the lead male voice in the ad: ‘First time ko sa Maynila, kayanin ko kaya?’

Then, Boom Voice assures him: ‘Kayang-kaya mo ‘yan’ (with lots of gulps from this gin brand).
