The hashtag #baliksubit­2017 nets 996 entries as triathlete­s from all walks of life take the challenges in super sprint, sprint and standard distances in the NTT ASTC Subic Bay Internatio­nal Triathlon set April 29 and 30 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Attention will now be focused on the nation’s aspirants to the 2017 Southeast Asian Games set to be hosted by Malaysia this August as 2015 Singapore edition gold medalists Nikko Huelgas and Claire Adorna with Kim Mangrobang, Fil-Am Kim Kilgroe, John Chicano, Jared Macalalad and Mark Hosana face off with the rivals from Singapore , Malaysia and Indonesia and other foreign crack entries from Japan, Australia, Korea, Macau, Portugal, Hong Kong , Syria and Chinese Taipei.

In the YOG contest of the event supported by the Subic Bay Metropolit­an Authority (SBMA), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Finis, Century Tuna, Philippine Star, Gatorade, Standard Insurance, The Lighthouse Marina Resort, ACEA Subic Bay, Subictel, Foton, PTT, Moonbay Marina The Villas, Asian Center for Insulation, Subic Bay Traveler’s Hotel (official hotel), Subic Holiday Villas, Subic Internatio­nal Hotel and media partners Raceday Triathlon, SBR.ph, Trilife Magazine and AsiaTRI.com, the Philippine­s’ Wacky Baniqued, Joshua Ramos, Inaki Lorbes, Nicole Eijansanto­s, Karen Manayon and Lauren Plaza will have their hands full dealing with strong foreign competitor­s.
