WAR ON DRUGS

MARIKINA: A 23-year-old man accused of being involved in drugs and carnapping was gunned down while carrying his one-year-old child on their way to their car. Chief Inspector Eduardo Cayetano, Chief Criminal Investigat­ion Division identified the victim as Emmanuel Mogan, 23, who was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen Sunday night in Marikina City. Mogan was visiting a friend in Barangay Tumana when he was attacked by his assailants. Witnesses claim they saw one of the suspects take Mogan’s child and left the hapless kid sitting on the gutter. The suspects then shot Mogan a few times, hitting the victim twice in the head and several more in the body. Mogan is said to be facing charges involving drugs and carnapping. (Madelynne Dominguez)

TAGUIG: A cop who went AWOL together with a companion were nabbed for possessing illegal drugs during a checkpoint. The arrested suspects were identified as PO1 Dandy Dee, an AWOL cop assigned at Philippine National Police (PNP)-CALABARZON (4A), his friend Rudy Matangihan, both are legal age and residents of Taguig. Dee and Matangihan were on board a motorcycle and traversing along Tawi-Tawi Street, Maharlika Village when they were flagged down by elements of Taguig Police Community Precinct (PCP)-2 around 5 p.m. According to SPO1 Mark Andrew Mozo, case investigat­or, the two were not wearing safety helmets so they asked the suspects to stop and asked for the driver’s license of Dee, who introduced himself as a CALABARZON cop. When police frisked Dee and Matangihan, they recovered two heat-sealed plastic sachets with suspected shabu from them. Dee later on admitted that he already was an AWOL cop and no longer active from service since last year. Dee and Matangihan were brought to Taguig City Jail and were charged for possession of illegal drugs or violation of Section 11 of the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
