Pia Wurtzbach balik-stage
MISS Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach returns on stage as she takes on hosting duties for the 2017 Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant grand coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City on Sunday, April 30.
This was confirmed by Jonas Gaffud, head of the Aces and Queens beauty camp and mentor of Wurtzbach, on Instagram.
“By the way, Pia Wurtzbach will be hosting this year’s Bb Pilipinas edition. Isn’t it exciting?” said Gaffud on IG.
Wurtzbach will join actress KC Concepcion in hosting the 54th edition of the prestigious local beauty pageant.
Forty lovely candidates are competing for this year’s six titles. The winners will go on to represent the country in pageants abroad namely Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International, and Miss Globe.
Last Saturday, the candidates made their final public appearance during a motorcade parade prior to the finals.
Pageant fanatics cheered for their favorite candidates who rode a convertible as they waved and made the rounds of the Araneta Center in Cubao.
The candidates wore colorful and stylish swimsuit designed by top Filipino swimwear designer Domz Ramos.
But some pageant fans were disappointed when the reigning beauty queens of Bb. Pilipinas did not show up for the parade.
This would mark the first time that the reining queens did not join the motorcade.
The reigning queens are Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina, Miss International Kylie Versoza, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Jennifer Hammond, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Joanna Eden, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordovez, and Bb. Pilipinas Globe Nichole Manalo.
