WAR ON DRUGS
MANILA: Four alleged drug suspects were arrested in two separate police operations in Manila. Apprehended in a buy-bust operation at Tayuman Street, Sta. Cruz Manila on Tuesday night were Mark Gil Aquino, 24; and Arnel Palles, 34. Police recovered three heat-sealed transparent sachets containing what is suspected as shabu from the suspects. Meanwhile, at 4:20 a.m. yesterday, elements of Lacson Police Community Precinct in Sampaloc arrested Daniel Gemio, 35; and Romel Igpit, 30, while both were engaged in a pot session. Authorities recovered from the suspects a glass pipe, one disposable lighters and a folded aluminum strip with obvious residue of what is suspected as shabu. (Glendel Nazario)
TACURONG: Authorities dismantled a drug den in Purok Yellow Bell, Brgy. New Isabela, Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, early morning of Tuesday. Arrested during the operation were Rey Bayona alias “Nonoy Marines,” 46; and his co-horts Jomar Camposo, Mary Rose Doroteo, Jenilyn Calagsan, and Melly Dorado, all of legal age weighing 70 grams. Suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated street market value of ₱350,000, drug paraphernalia, and 31 rounds of caliber .380 ammunition were seized by authorities from the den. LAGUNA: A drug surrenderee was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman near his residence at Barangay Parian, Calamba City on Tuesday evening. Police identified the fatality as Alberto Tipon, who, prior, was detained by police for violating R.A. 9165. According to reports, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m., with the suspect calmly approaching the victim, shooting him on the head pointblank. (Danny J. Estacio)
