Jimenez quits as local source code review body focal person
Commission on Elections spokesperson James Jimenez yesterday resigned as the focal person of the Local Source Code Review Committee for the Automated Election System that will be used in the May 13, 2019 elections.
Jimenez resigned after an image of a bikiniclad actress accidentally projected on the screen during the kick-off ceremony of the code review at the Dela Salle University in Manila last Saturday.
“Last Saturday, we kicked off the source code review and unfortunately there was a small technical issue that resulted in the flashing of image that was inappropriate to the event,” said the poll body official.
“Again I regret that, but I have to take responsibility. It was our committee that arranged that event and that sort of thing should have been better handled. As a consequence, I have this morning tendered my resignation as focal person for the local source code review again because of that unfortunate event,” Jimenez added.
The image of the actress appeared on the wide screen while Comelec Commissioner and LSCR committee vice-chairperson Luie Guia was delivering his opening speech.
“It was the image of an actress actually in a bathing suit. The image is in my computer. Desktop image siya, and then unfortunately, when we were switching programs from presentation to presentation apparently lumalabas ‘yong desktop photo in between presentation,” he said.
“So for a fleeting moment as the program switched from one presentation to the next, nakita ang desktop and again that was the image on the desktop, parang wallpaper,” Jimenez added.
He added that the committee will decide who will replace him as lead person.
