Are HPV vaccines safe?
Hi Ms. Rica, Parang narinig ko before na meron nang vaccine for HPV or Human Papillovirus strains. Totoo ba ito and available ba siya? Okay lang bang magpa-vaccine nito kahit wala pang HPV. I am sexually active kasi and even if I am very mindful of protection, baka puwedeng added level of protection siya. Salamat po. Better Safe
Hello Better Safe,
I commend you for taking over your sexual health in terms of protection and avoidance of infection and other sicknesses. Right now, we really need education and the willingness to have safe and protected sex. Ang scary na while in other countries, bumababa ang cases ng HIV pero sa atin ay tumataas. We really need to take action.
Totoo naman ang iyong mga narinig. Merong vaccine for HPVs which is mostly concerned with cervical cancer and genital warts. Ang mga vaccine na ito ay magandang tool in preventing HPVrelated diseases pero kailangan mong malaman that these do no cure HPV in itself.
Ongoing pa ang studies kung hanggang gaano katagal talaga ang itatagal ng vaccines. They also do not protect against other sexually transmitted infections kaya kailangan pa rin gumamit ng condoms or other methods to avoid infection. Pero tama ka in saying that it can be an
added level of protection for both you and your partner or partners.
Be extra careful when you are engaged with multiple partners, always enjoy pero dapat safe lagi. With love and lust, Rica
