TV MORE VERSATILE: TV is

here to stay.

At a time when everyone have gone digital, here comes Chef Sharwin Tee launching his own TV show, “Let’s Do Lunch.”

Sharwin, who has cooked for Canada’s dignitaries and former President Gloria Arroyo, believes there are stories better told via traditional media over digital media.

“For one, digital media is too confining. Viewers prefer their content brief and quick.’’

Sharwin, 39, says he can pass on more useful knowledge to viewers through his TV show. The short-cut items are reserved for online presence while the longer, more elaborate howto’s, are aired on the show that airs Sundays, 11 a.m. on GMA News TV.

LET’S DO LUNCH: Unlike other TV shows, Sharwin won’t ask his guests to cook. Instead, he and his guest shall share a meal that the chef himself prepared.

Sharwin says he conducts his own research before sitting down with his guest. He tries to find out what his food tastes are, then surprises him or her on the day of the shoot.

Thus far, among those who have taped for “Let’s Do Lunch” are Julie Ann San Jose, Kylene Alcantara, Derrick Monasterio, Donita Rose, Mariel de Leon. •

FOOD WITH A TWIST: Sharwin is known for his quirky, innovative twists on traditional Filipino and Chinese cuisine. He graduated with honors from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver, Canada.

He was host of the long-running cooking-travel show “Curiosity Got the Chef” and web shows like “Bet You Didn’t Know” and “Not Safe for the Hungry.”
