4 drug suspects yield ₱6.8-M shabu in Taguig sting

- (Alexandria San Juan)

Quezon City police seized at least ₱6.8 million worth of shabu from four drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City on Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., Quezon City Police District director, identified the arrested suspects as Abel Dagadas, 34; his wife Larrylyn Azada 29; Usay Uting, 49; and Jacqueline Dapitan, 52; all residents of Barangay Central Signal Village in Taguig City.

The group was arrested in a drug sting conducted by members of Quezon City Police Station 7 Drug Enforcement Unit.

The suspects’ arrest was an offshoot to an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City last February 8 that resulted in the apprehension of two women – Weds Pasandalan, 45, and Norhana Ibad, 25 – who yielded at least ₱680,000 worth of shabu.

During investigation, the two women pointed to Dagadas as their source of illegal drugs.

This prompted the anti-narcotics unit of Cubao Police Station (PS-7) to launch an entrapment against Dagadas with the assistance of Taguig City Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

An undercover officer transacted with Dagadas in his house at No. 2 Sampaloc Street around 4:20 p.m. and purchased more than ₱60,000 worth of shabu.

Upon receiving the marked money, responding policemen immediately nabbed Dagadas and his three companions.

Authorities were able to confiscate nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing about a kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million.

Also seized from the suspects were cellular phones, a digital weighing scale, several drug paraphernalia, and ₱10,000 cash believed to be drug money.

The suspects are currently detained at the Cubao Police Station and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
