DA ‘Malasakit Desk’
CEBU CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA)-Central Visayas opened its “Malasakit Help Desk”, the first line of defense of information where farmers in the region can have easy, convenient access to its programs, services, programs and projects and this is located inside the DA-7 compound in Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City.
Regional Technical Director for Operations Marina Hermoso said the “Malasakit Help Desk” combines all existing similar services of the agency into one assistance counter and will embody public service that is accessible, effective, and handled with ‘malasakit’ or genuine concern.
Hermoso encouraged assigned employee to entertain clients and provide them with their needs. “We have already that kind of services – the so-called Public Assistance Center (PAC) but this help desk is an improved version of the PAC”, Hermoso added.
Joel Elumba, DA-7 director added that Malasakit, in the vernacular means “pag-amuma” (care). We will help and provide the services needed by our farmers because there are a thousand information that are good for them specifically these times when global trends are at the fingertips.
The chairman of Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Council (RAFC-7) Lou Cabalde expressed his full support to the center and welcomed this concerned development to the various needs of local farmers and fishers.
