Manila village dad shot

A barangay councilor was gunned down Thursday night by two unidentifi­ed men inside the village hall of Barangay 484 in Sampaloc, Manila.

Police said the victim, Antonio Calma Jr., 43, died on the spot from bullet wounds.

Investigat­ion showed that Calma, who was also the officerin-charge, was having a meeting with other barangay officials at around 10:30 p.m. when two masked gunmen with caps entered the barangay hall and peppered him with bullets.

The gunmen sped away on a red Toyota Innova followed by a gray Mitsubishi Pajero SUV, both without license plates.

Fourteen fired cartridge cases of unknown caliber and a deformed bullet were retrieved from the crime scene.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

Further investigat­ion is ongoing.
