BACOLOD CITY – A 37-year-old Person with Disability (PWD) was gunned down by the New People’s Army (NPA) in La Castellana, Negros Occidental on May 9.

Police Major Sherwin Fernandez, La Castellana police chief, said the victim, who was partially blind, was on his way to his sister’s house when he was killed.

Fernandez said that three unidentified armed persons were seen outside the victim’s house before he was killed.

Recovered from the crime scene were fired 5.56mm and .45-caliber bullets.

The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the NPA Central Negros Guerrilla Front said they killed the victim for raping a minor.

Fernandez said that the victim allegedly raped a minor in 2012 but the incident was not officially recorded with the police.

Despite the admission of the NPA, Fernandez said that their investigation does not stop as they need to identify the members of the group involved in the killing.
