2017 World Slasher Cup under way

The quest for honor and prestige starts today, Thursday, May 25, as the seven-day ‘’2017 World Slasher Cup 2’’ kicks off at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The defending champs banner a formidable line-up of more than 200 local and foreign participants.

For the first time in decades, a Filipino–owned company ( Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists) became a proud sponsor of World Slasher Cup. Co –sponsors are Pitgames Media, Petron and Thunderbird.

The foreign contingent include Roger Roberts (Georgia), Tim Fritzgerald (Utah), Greg Saludares, Kini Kalawaii and Butch Cambria (Hawaii), Cesar Ancayan, Rene Medina, Jorge “Goy” Goitia, Mike Formoso and Zaldy Sandoval (California), Richard Harris and Wilber Le Blanc (Louisiana) Owen Medina and Peter Elm (Guam), Bel Almojera (Florida), Matthew Dunne (Alabama), and Soan Sogianto (Indonesia).

Veterans and upcoming sabong champs comprise the local cast: Nene Araneta, Rep. Patrick Antonio, Peping Cojuangco, Biboy Enriquez,Nestor Vendivil, Doc Ayong Lorenzo, Manny Berbano, Rey Briones, Gov. Ito Ynares, Jun Sevilla, James Uy, RC Gatchalian, Dicky Lim and Mayor Cito Alberto among others.

The complete schedule: May 25 and 26 (2-cock elims); May 27 and 28 (3-cock semi-finals); May 29 and 30 (4-cock finals for those with 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5 points) and May 31 (4-cock finals for those with 4, 4.5 and 5 points).
