Hidilyn doubtful as PH flag bearer

While it’s an honor for Hidilyn Diaz to be appointed as the country’s flag-bearer in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts (AIMA) Games, she said that it would all depend on the competition schedule if she would be there in the opening ceremony in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Diaz, the silver medal winner in the 2016 Rio Olympics, said that there is no schedule yet of the weightlifting competition of the AIMA Games, which is set to open Sept. 17.

“Hindi ko pa masabi kasi hindi ko alam kung kelan ang competition e,” said Diaz when contacted yesterday by Bulletin-Tempo. “Of course it’s an honor kung ako nga ang na-name na flag-bearer.”

“Kung makaka-sama ko naman yung coach and trainer ko ng maaga if ever na late magsisimula yung competition, pwede siguro akong flag-bearer during the opening of the Games,” added Diaz. (Waylon
