- Javier) (Kate Louise

A fire razed early yesterday morning the Caloocan City Police Station which is just beside the city central fire station, destroying some properties and files of cases.

Fire Officer 3 Alwin Culianan of Caloocan City Central Fire Station, said the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. and reached the fourth alarm.

Witnesses told arson investigators that the fire allegedly started between the offices of the Northern Media Group (NMG) and the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).

PO3 Rafael Abuan Jr., chief of the Caloocan Police Supply and Logistics Department, was sleeping inside his office when he suddenly heard an explosion.

“Noong nagising ako puro usok na sa ceiling. Medyo malaki na ang apoy sa pasilyo,” he recalled.

Abuan, who did not have enough time to save his personal belongings including his money worth more than ₱100,000 inside his drawer, said he helped the five wardens in transferring at least 102 detainees at the custodial facility.
