No TV comeback for Kris
JUST A THOUGHT: “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
NO COMEBACK JUST YET: ‘Para akong nakasandal sa pader,’’ was how Kris Aquino put it when asked how she considered making a movie comeback co-starring hot love team Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto in the film, “I Love You, Hater” (opening July 11).
Kris praised the professionalism and wonderful work ethic of the young actors, who have to their credit three box office hits: “Vince Kath & James,” “I Love You to The Stars and Back,” and “Unexpectedly Yours.”
She cleared, however, that although she’s appearing in a Star Cinema production, she isn’t making a comeback on TV just yet. “But, I’ve been active and highly visible on digital media,’’ she said. Kris runs her own social media channel, manned by her own
eam of young, fresh college graduates. She uns her own chat shows online, sometimes with her son Bimby.
As of the last count, the TV host-actress has at least 53 sponsor-partners.
Kris said she didn’t feel like she’s been out of circulation as social media is quite pervasive.
“I’m glad I’m the first to get there.’’ • MISSED ON TV: At the media forum, I stated that whether some people like it or not, Kris is missed on TV. There’s just no one like her, a most candid yet intelligent interviewer, someone who can be so funny, too, with her pronouncements and asides. Also missed is that laughter of hers. Kris did just that, and so much more, at the media launch of her comeback movie. Ang daming pasabog! She said her role in the rom-com directed by Giselle Andres is tailored for her. ‘I play a social media mogul, which is really my present day milieu.’’ She made sure her character, while perceived initially as bad, isn’t all that bad in the end. ‘’She is colorful, to say the least.’’
GAY AND HARD: Joshua, whose character pretends to be gay in the story, admitted to having had a hard time pulling off his scenes.
In an elevator scene, he gets a hardon as he comes up close with Julia. ‘’It was both hilarious and challenging,’’ he said. Then again, it was all part of the plot.
