Jake Cuenca Best Actor

BEFORE Jaclyn Jose was named Best Actress at the 69th Cannes film festival, actor Jake Cuenca was named Best Actor in the psycho-thriller film “Mulat” (Awaken) at the World Cinema Festival Brazil 2016.

This is the second time that Cuenca was recognized for his performanc­e in the same movie. His first internatio­nal acting award came in 2014 when he won at the Internatio­nal Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM).

The movie, directed by Maria Diane Ventura, also won Best Narrative Feature. In 2014, Ventura also won Best Director for a Global Feature at the IFFM.

On Instagram, Cuenca congratula­ted the cast and crew who made the film possible. The caption read: “To God be the glory. congratula­tion to everyone involved in this movie and congratula­tions to my director @maria diane ventura .”

The World Cinema Festival Brazil was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Copacabana, Brazil.

The awarding ceremony will be held on May 28 in Brazil. This year’s winners: Best Narrative Feature “Awaken” – Maria Diane Ventura
