The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended no bail against a vegetable supplier who was caught sneaking dried marijuana leaves into Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

Prosecutor II Aurora Peñaflor held for trial Guillermo Oroc, 44, a resident of M. C. Briones St., Carbon, Cebu City, after finding probable cause for a violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

“…said accused, with deliberate intent and without authority of law, did then and there transport one masking tape-sealed transparent plastic bag marijuana fruiting taps containing 393.81 grams commonly known as marijuana, a dangerous drug,” the charge sheet reads.

Oroc chose not to file counteraffidavit to answer the allegations filed against him before the Prosecutor’s Office during the inquest proceeding on Tuesday. Instead, he manifested to face the charges in court.

Provincial guard 1 Alito Gabuya, head guard of GDS Security Agency assigned at the CPDRC Lito Vergara, and security guard Danilo Angulo stated on February 1 they were assigned at the main entrance gate of CPDRC to inspect and supervise any person and vehicle going in and out of the facility.

While they were conducting inspection on a blue Suzuki multicab vehicle with plate number YFK 257 driven by Oroc at around 9:51 a.m., they found marijuana fruiting taps, three mobile phones, three cell phone chargers, one head phone and three aluminum tin foils.

“…driven by Oroc, a delivery vehicle used to transport vegetable for CPDRC inmates and we seen a knapsack bag on the passenger seat which we inspected as standard operating procedure and we found inside contraband items,” the joint affidavit read.

Gabuya, Vergara, and Angulo said they then placed Oroc under arrest.
