Documentary film awards at CEC
Development Communication majors of Cebu Eastern College are set to present deep and uneasy humanity issues in a film genre called Cinema Direct.
Called “Lihok Juan,” the event presents a gala of documentaries with themes ranging from the selfie culture, legality of gambling, no-stopping-anytime advocacy, homosexuality, the use of slang and foul language in FM radio stations, bullying in schools, and even the use of children in adult shows, among others.
The documentary film awards is slated on February 14, Saturday, from 6-9 p.m. at the Cebu Eastern College Auditorium. Tickets are at P25. Films will vie for six awards namely, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Video Editing, Best Musical Scoring, and Best Film.
According to Cebu Eastern College Development Communication Dean Ruth Mercado, “Lihok Juan” seeks to promote documentary film production in Cebu as well as create awareness and appreciation for Cinema Direct as a film genre.
